When Bobby Schroeder was going through his university’s accounting program, he heard a quote that would clarify his career goals. He doesn’t remember the exact wording, but the context was “Good audit guys cost the company money. Good tax guys save the company money.” Bobby’s practice focuses on tax and accounting consulting for individuals, small businesses, non-profits, and other entities. He strives to be the friendly, knowledgeable CPA who can be an asset to any organization. While his clients require him to prepare tax returns, he really enjoys helping his clients find ways to become more successful. That may involve creation of a new accounting system, structuring a transaction in a way that provides the greatest after-tax
benefits, or helping a recent college graduate understand the importance of a budget! After spending six years in Houston, Texas, he returned to his hometown of New Orleans in 2012, where he is currently a tax manager at the CPA firm of Ericksen, Krentel & LaPorte LLP. He has been involved in state and national CPA societies, serving on several committees. He is a
graduate of the 2011 AICPA Leadership Academy, a program that focuses on developing the future leaders of the profession. He is also a member of Kiwanis International, where he has worked with several youth organizations in developing their student leaders. He is a 2005 graduate of the University of New Orleans, and also is an Eagle Scout. Between tax season, a wife, two daughters, and watching as many football games as he can, he lives a wonderful life!
When & Where
American Society of Women Accountants New Orleans Chapter
ASWA is a professional not-for-profit organization founded in 1938 in Indianapolis to increase the opportunities for women in all fields of accounting. The New Orleans chapter was sponsored by the Atlanta chapter in 1958 and began with 21 members, 10 of whom were Certified Public Accountants. Today we have about 100 members who meet once a month, usually on the fourth Wednesday, at various restaurants in the area. Special monthly meetings include Student Activities, Public Relations, a Christmas luncheon each December, a joint meeting with the Association of Governmental Accountants, an annual membership drive and wine tasting, and an Officer Installation luncheon in June. In the past, the chapter has served the New Orleans community by volunteering at Celebration in the Oaks, the WYES Showboat Auction, the AARP Tax Aide program, the Red Cross Humanitarian Ball, and by supporting Dress for Success, an international organization that provides business attire to women for job interviews.
